Senior School Placement

We help families to choose, apply and transition to an Irish senior school

Inside knowledge of the Irish senior schools

The transition to an Irish senior (secondary) school, aged 12/13, either from a primary or prep school or from overseas, can be complex and stressful.  Irish secondary schools are well respected and have competitive options for day and boarding schools.

Our school placement consultants work with you and your child to establish a plan and route into your chosen school.  After our initial assessment, we start to put a longlist of suitable schools together.  At this stage our depth of experience will be an invaluable asset in advising on the schools that would best suit your child and how to prepare for them.  Due to our access and knowledge of this sector we can advise on the character of the school, the academic and extra-curricula offering, the types of students they look for and how best to approach attending the schools you are aiming for.

The main entry points into an Irish senior school is  12/13+ ready for the start of the Junior Cert curriculum a year later, or 16+ for Leaving Cert, IB or Pre U.  Our advice spans each age group so we can always ensure your child attends the right school for the best Universities in the world after his or her time at school.

We can arrange personal tours with school admissions staff and introductions to Heads and senior staff to ensure we represent your family in the best possible way - strengthening your chance of successful application.

We have placed students at Ireland's most prestigious schools, including St Columba's College, The King's Hospital, Alexandra College, Rathdown, Blackrock College, Clongowes Wood College, and Wesley College.

How we can help you

We always begin any placement with our unique in-house assessment to ensure we approach your situation with a clear idea of your child’s academic level, interests and future ambitions.  For senior school entry, we will assess for Maths, English, Reasoning and Science with subject-specific assessments for 16+.

Our Head of Consulting will be able to outline how we have effectively advised families in past cases and their results, the schools and academic programmes we work with; and ultimately, how we could help your family by giving you a range of options to think on prior to deciding on how to proceed.
