Midleton College is a co-educational, faith-based institution that values diversity and aims to challenge its students to achieve their highest potential in all aspects of their education. The school offers a wide range of academic opportunities for its students, with mixed-ability classes in the junior cycle and banded/mixed-ability classes in the senior cycle. Teachers at Midleton College are highly qualified, with post-graduate qualifications and registration with The Teaching Council of Ireland.

The school offers a diverse range of subjects, with 18 available for Junior Cycle and 20 for Leaving Certificate. In addition, the school offers a transition year program that allows students to engage in planned modular and year-specific courses that prepare them for life beyond second-level education. This program includes work experience placements and a stay at an Outdoor Pursuits centre.

Midleton College is committed to the well-being of all its students, including those with special educational needs, and does not hold entrance examinations. The school's aim is to help each student understand who they are and have confidence in their ability to make a meaningful contribution to the wider world. Typically, 90% of students go on to further education at degree level.

In addition to its academic program, Midleton College offers a dynamic program of extra-curricular activities to enhance students' learning and personal development. Boarding is also available at the school, with separate accommodations for male and female students. Teachers provide pastoral care to boarders, and the school's pastoral well-being team includes a full-time guidance counsellor, qualified nurses, and administrative, household, catering, and grounds staff.
